fast driving

I drove some students to another school this morning to attend a quiz.

As I was driving, one student commented that I drove fast.

Actually, it is true. I dont't know why but since driving my auto car which I bought last year, driving has been such a breeze . I also like the thrill of driving fast, still within speed limit, of course.Wonder if I could be a Ferrari driver in another life?

money talks?

I saw this lady with 2 young kids at Mcdonalds. I was there for a take-away. When her transport came, she told the kids to walk out with her. They refused and began to create a din by shouting and staying put; refusing to budge. Their ages could be 5 and 3. Both wanted Mcdonalds ice-cream

The mum walked out of Mcdonalds , but they didn't follow. Guess what did the trick?

The mum came in and threw a dollar each to the kids , saying that they could get an ice cream later at another shop. The two kids took the money and calmly walked out to follow the mum.

What do you think of that?

medical leave

She nearly took mc on that fateful day but something nudged her to attend the event. Moreover, she has a duty to do.

What happened? While she was at work, her house was ransacked in the late morning and her unlucky husband tied up while the robbers lugged away her house safe containing her precious jewellery.

Now she says, " I will not simply take mc."

Is that a hard way to learn her lesson?

blog gathering

I have never attended a bloggers' gathering before and last Friday was my first one. It was a pleasant evening and fun, attaching faces to blogs.I am referring to the anonymous bloggers.

Strange how the written word can help one to reach out and connect with people. They were

1) one who drove for 45 minutes one way to make it; were you handing out chocs?

2) two others who came straight from work, both looking fresh!

3) one who made the effort to drop in despite having to wake up early the next morning

4) one other who" dived" in and out again for another gathering with his buddies.

5) mother and son who came all the way from down south. Son was a cool escort, fit for a hot mama!

6) father and son who came all the way from up north. Observed the dad in action as a disciplinarian too!

7) blogger wife and supportive husband who came straight from her clinic, and no,you don't have corpse-like face( who said that?) but porcelain complexion!

8) the organiser himself ( many thanks) for doing the leg work.Found him to be a jovial guy

It was an opportunity to be able to exchange greetings and meet in the flesh the ones whose blogs I have been visiting.

Mid- week is here tomorrow but a long school week as we are having saturday classes on saturday for 3 weeks!

School Open Day

I haven't had migraine attacks for quite a while but lately it has decided to re-visit me.

Seriously, without the pills prescribed by my blogger doc, I would still be suffering.Panadol is

now too mild for me and has no effect.

School open day is aroung the corner. I will be the one attending to see kids' teachers.

It would be interesting to note who else among you are the ones attending?

Does it make any difference if the one attending open day is the dad or mum?

father's day

I would like to wish all fathers an advanced happy father's day 2007.

I was asking my students what they plan to do for their dads this special day. I also gave them some ideas.

One student gave this reply." I hardly see my father. He is always out of the house." This is so sad. No doubt fathers are the main income earners in most families, but surely fathers should try to spend time with their families?

What I remember this father's day of my late dad was how he cycled 3 miles to attend my school open day and to collect my report card from my teacher. It is sad how so few fathers do that these days, especially in my school.

However, I am touched by some of you blogger dads who are really great dads and great role models for your kids. Keep it up!

divorce

A girlfriend said this today, " Some husbands take advantage of their wives' capability ( in earning money) and become lazy and not motivated."

What do you think of that? By the way, I have just heard about a girlfriend who divorced her husband, ( she thinks he is a lazy bum) remarried ( and divorced this second husband too because he drinks and is lazy) and is now going to marry husband number 3. I hope that she will be lucky this time.

However, what do you all think of her actions?

marriage breakdown

At the car service centre, I chatted with another customer and was told that her husband is working in another country while she mans the fort here, looking after her kids. Of course, the questions arises whether she should join her husband for good or just let it be. She tells me and she knows that some married men posted in another country carried on affairs which later , caused their marriage to break down.

But she says that if a man wants to cheat, he can cheat anytime and anywhere. And she trusts her husband. I told her that it is good to minimise the opportunities for her husband to cheat. Was that good advice?

re-marriage

My heart is always filled with joy when I hear of people who have once suffered the death of a spouse or a divorce, remarrying. They are getting a second chance at happiness.

A girlfriend of mine once expressed to me that she told her husband that he could only remarry upon her death after mourning for 2 years. I don't think the period of mourning is an indicator of his love for her or is it? What do you all think?

I ,for one, should and would be happy if upon my death, hubby is able to find someone else to be his life partner on earth. The worry is only if the kids are still young because of frightening stories of step-mums .

stranger and studies

I befriended a stranger at the book shop I frequented yesterday. She told me that she is from Kelantan and has over to visit friends.
I invited her to Kopitiam for a drink as she had to wait for her dental appointment nearby.
It was nice just to chat with her and knowing that this is just a one-time spending time together, as well.Anyway, she has an only child, a daughter who has settled down in England , after completing her studies there.
This lady has decided to make things happen in her life, instead of just waiting for the mundane and routine to take place. She makes visits to her sisters who stay outstation and she also visits her friends on her own.

Over a drink, she 1) mentioned that she was reminded by her friend to be wary of strangers...but I looked "not dangerous" to her.

2)we wondered whether some parents are doing the right thing in being afraid to send their kids overseas to study as the kids may decide to never come home.( as happened in her case)

Any thoughts on this?
