It is not often that daughter insists on throwing a birthday party. This year is one of
the times she desires to have one. I told her to plan for it .

Imagine my pleasant surprise when she has everything worked out, to the tinest detail. It was like a working paper, all right. Details included the menu, number of guests and what each helper's duties involves. The cost of each type of food is also included( after asking me , of course)

My suggestion of including nuggets in the menu was responded in this way,

" I am not a child anymore. These are kids' food."

Okay, I know, I know, my daughter is growing up ....fast!


P/S She wants a barbecue-do for her birthday so wish me fine weather on that special day ok?

Upon returning home , daughter looked around the house and then asked;

" Are we expecting guests?"

I laughed, and was tickled by her question.

It is just that her always tired mum went on a cleaning frenzy....and a not so normal

sight greeted her daughter!

On answering my handphone, son's voice at the other end said," Che che (meaning sister in cantonese dialect) wants to know why you are not back yet."

I shall take it positively, that

a) both kids are concerned I have not been abducted by any alien

and not that

a) they are not giving me breathing space?

Son: Does marriage preparatory course involve the couple being taught how to look after

babies?


Me: ( not shocked by question , okay? Knew he heard that from a movie)


So, did any one you ever attend any such course and did it help?

Friday

Friday:

1) Had fish porridge for breakfast.

2) Visited the nearby market.

3) Drove to get movie tickets for "Bee Movie" as kids wanted to watch.

4) Rested and did some reading in between doing some house chores

5) Drove kids for movie

6) Attended CG.

I was watching a dvd movie when daughter asked me to identify a certain male character on the screen. I gave her the wrong information.

She exclaimed '' Human faces are the easiest to recognise compared to animals. How could you not remember who he was ? ''

Do you agree? Have you recognised a wrong person before in real life?

cat tales

The young gentleman at the check out counter had a basket of filled with a large packet of uncooked rice and 5 tins of cat food. He replied to my question( how could I resist) that they were to feed his family's 5 cats . I didn't know before this that cats need to be fed twice a day.

How do you feel when

scene 1) all the details you keyed in the laptop got deleted and had to stay( thank God your superior offered to help you) back to re-do

scene 2) upon reaching your school at around 7pm, you could not drive your car out as the guard was nowhere to be seen.


But

scene 3) you discovered the unselfishness of human nature when you recevied much help to re-do your data

scene 4) and the same person gave you a lift home.

being chief

I have just completed my job as chief invigilator and am relieved it is over.

The teething problems right from the beginning made the task a challenging one.

On the morning of the exam, I made sure I feed the invigilators first, as only light snacks were provided by the candidates' centre. The exam consists of 3 components , each with a half -hour break.

My fellow chief invigilator joked with me that as chiefs, we were more nervous than the candidates. I think so too. We had to look into providing CD players also for the listening component of the exam, 6 ,in my case.

Feeling light headed,

now that it is over,

Back to mundane chores,

and duties.
